Smart Skies is a national campaign, led by the airlines of the Air Transport Association, that advocates modernization of the U.S. air traffic control system (ATC) and its funding mechanisms.
The Air Transport Association of America, Inc. (hereafter referred to as "ATA") is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information that you provide to us when using the Smart Skies Web site. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information received about you when you visit the Smart Skies Web site. We may make content or services from other Web sites available to you from links located on the Smart Skies Web site. These other Web sites are not subject to this Privacy Policy and we are not responsible for the way in which they treat personal information. We recommend that you review the privacy policy at each such Web site to determine how that site protects your privacy.
Information We Collect
If you decide to participate in the campaign, we may use information that we collect from your newsletter sign up or advocacy activities as described below. The success of the campaign will depend in significant measure on our ability to use information from you and similarly interested members of the public for the purpose of advocating for the modernization of the ATC and its funding mechanisms.
General: If you decide to join our newsletter list, or use the Smart Skies Web site to participate in advocacy activities, we will collect your name, address (for the purpose of identifying your congressional district to match you to the correct elected official), e-mail address and other information such as your air travel habits, profession and similar information. We do not, however, knowingly collect any information from minors. We will do our best to respect both your time and attention.
Surveys: We may conduct occasional online surveys. For example, when you're within the Smart Skies Web site, you may see a pop-up window offering you the optional opportunity of participating in a survey. These surveys are entirely voluntary and you may easily decline to participate.
Web Site Usage Information: We automatically collect IP addresses, Web browser and Web site usage information from you when you visit our Web site. This information helps us evaluate how our visitors use and navigate our Web site on an aggregate basis, including the number and frequency of visitors to each Web page and the length of their visits.
How We Use Information Collected
We may use information in the following ways for the purposes for which you specifically provided the information including:
- To enable us to process, validate and verify Smart Skies newsletter subscriptions.
- To send campaigns updates or requests for additional advocacy actions by e-mail to newsletter subscribers.
- To identify your elected officials based on your address or ZIP Code for the purpose of facilitating the sending of advocacy messages to the elected officials who represent you.
- To maintain a record of campaign activity only available to ATA and its approved agents.
We may use or disclose information that you provide to us for the purposes of the Smart Skies campaign. In addition, from time-to-time we may use or disclose information that you provide to us for related aviation industry campaigns led or organized by ATA. We will not use, transfer, sell or otherwise apply information you have submitted to us to any third parties, except in special circumstances where it is necessary to enforce our policies and property rights (for example, when necessary to protect our copyrights). We may also disclose or use your registration information when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.
Security
The information we collect about you is stored in limited-access servers. We will maintain safeguards to protect reasonably the security of these servers and your information.
Registration Information Update
You may cancel your newsletter subscription at any time by sending an e-mail message to airlines_list@capwiz.mailmanager.net with the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line, or by visiting this page and entering your e-mail address in the unsubscribe box.
If you unsubscribe from the Smart Skies Web site, your information and previous activities will be retained in our database, but we will discontinue our communications with you.
Policy Modifications
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on the Smart Skies Web site, so be sure to check this page periodically.
Transfer to U.S.
If you are located outside of the United States, please note that the information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By registering on the Smart Skies Web site, you consent to this transfer.
